This week on Heidi & Co.'s blog, we're so excited to present Part II of last week's post, A Style Blogger's Guide to London. We partnered with one of our most favourite ladies, fashion blogger Madeleine to take you all around the City of Westminster! Better known as Miss Perfect Fashion & Beauty, Madeleine is here to present the ultimate shopping guide to Oxford Street Did you miss Part I? Check it out here.
It's something that a lot of us city folk look forward to every year, so I thought I'd share some snaps of the stores that I hit that day. Enjoy this little gallery of story telling....
One of the main reasons that I love venturing through Oxford Street is of course for the shopping. If you know where to look, you can find tiny nooks within the city that are like hot spots that are kept on the DL, but this time I kept things upfront and went door to door on the high street. I figured that would make for an intriguing post in itself, so I'm saving that one for later... but don't you worry, I'm taking you with me as I hit my favourite stores, so first up is New Look of course!
Now for those of you who follow me on Instagram, you'll of probably put two and two together and realised by now that New Look is my favourite clothing retailer just because their fashion is super affordable, versatile and on trend, plus they show the love to us tallies too! That never goes unnoticed believe me! I think I also have a bit of a soft spot for the company too having worked for them in the past, so even though retail just wasn't for me, I'd like to think that our paths will cross again in the future, maybe in the form of a collaboration, who knows? When in Oxford Street, hitting the store is essential alongside others like PRIMARK, River Island, House Of Fraser, Swarovski, Urban Outfitters and Miss Selfridge, from whom I've actually managed to land myself a few bargains from the Black Friday sales. Keep an eye out on my Instagram for a peek at those because it's the best place that I like to shop for knitwear!
The Disney Store is also another annual pit stop that I like to make a point of visiting, on previous years it's been a favourite place to go to for that festive feeling and I've taken many a picture with the likes of Olaf and Sven, you can always count on there being some kind of photo opportunity on the lower ground of the store, so you'll never know who you may find down there!
I also happened to come across the Hawes & Curtis store front which I've not actually taken note of before this trip and I actually had the pleasure of working with them in 2016 over on Miss Perfect Fashion & Beauty. Admittedly this one is a little bit of a memento for me, so I couldn't help but add it to the post since there was a little story behind that one. F.Y.I for any of you ladies who are in the market for a crisp and tailored shirt, these guys are the way to go!
Now I do have a bit of a soft spot for Patisserie Valerie, given the rather comical story of the Custard Slice which I picked up on my travels to Bath this Summer which you can read over on Miss Perfect Fashion & Beauty (A TOURIST'S TRAVEL GUIDE | THE CITY OF BATH). but since then I've been noticing stores all over the shop and no that's not a pun! Seriously these little guys are popping up everywhere, so my mother and I were flagging at this stage of our shopping trip and I think we needed a little break from the cold too, so we popped into Debenhams just for a quick look around and we stumbled across Patisserie Valerie, now I thought that they were famous for baking mean fruit tarts and slices, but apparently in Oxford Street the store offers the full 3 course action so I cancelled my reservation for Garfunkel's (sorry about that!) and ended up dining in in the sweetest little nook of the store on one of the busiest roads in London and managed to find some peace and quiet, good food and amazing service!
So amazing news - they offer a cream tea! Now me and the mum are a bit of a fan of the idea, I mean endless tea and scones sounds good to me right now, so while we were deciding what to do, we ordered tea on it's own while contemplating whether we should get some proper food and try out the mains as we hadn't eaten anything proper that day or if we should be really naughty and skip to dessert... I think we met somewhere in the middle with that one, so we didn't go for the cream tea (this time) but we did go for the full course action so bring on the starters!
I mean look at this! We both went for the Goat's Cheese Tartine which was simply delicious, there was so much sweetness and flavour from the peppers in a tomato sauce, plus the cheese packed a punch with an instant tang and the amount of everything was just right, so the flavours where on point for any cheese and flavour lover! The salad and dressing just balanced everything out and to be honest once I'd finished my starters I wanted to eat the whole thing again!
Next up was the Winter Pie and oh my gosh let me tell you, I think it's the best pie I've ever eaten in my whole life, I'm not really a pie person but who could resist food as good as this? Did someone say steak and red wine?!! Yes please! Everything was cooked perfectly and to be honest I can't wait to go back to Oxford Street just to sit in this very chain store of Patisserie Valerie. How did I not know that they did meals? It's a mystery to me, but that swede and carrot mash was something else I'm just saying...
We actually ended up ordering four slices of the Mille-Feuille treat to take home with us as a doggy bag because we were so full, that was such a good meal so when in London, head to Valerie and she'll sort you out!
Our last stop was Liberty London and on the way back to Oxford Circus train station, I just had to get that shot of The London Palladium, which is the West End theatre located on Argyll Street in the City of Westminster. From the roster of stars who have played there and many televised performances, it is arguably the most famous theatre in London and the United Kingdom, especially for musical variety shows! The theatre has also hosted the Royal Variety Performance a record 40 times, most recently in 2014 so it's definitely worthy of the post for a little inspiration on what to do when you're next visiting the beautiful city of London!
